Dobbs was born in Albany, Texas and graduated from Colorado High School in Colorado City, Texas . After graduation he worked the Rodeo circuit as a Tack man and livestock handler, and had begun competing in the Bronc Riding and Bull Riding events. In 1962 , at a rodeo in Buffalo, Minnesota , he was offered a stint as the barrel man for the rodeo's Clown team when the main barrel man failed to show up. For more than three decades Dobbs entertained rodeo crowds in the United States , Canada , and even Australia . In addition to saving Cowboy s in the ring, Dobbs entertained rodeo crowds between events with his famous clowning acts, often involving trained animals and a (quite explosive) Ford Model T . Dobbs retired from professional rodeo in 1998 and the following year began serving as a Justice Of The Peace for Howard County . He resides in Coahoma and still performs annually at the "World's Original Kindergarten Rodeo" held by the town's elementary school. HONORS
