He served in the Tennessee House Of Representatives in 1848 and again in 1882. During the Civil War , he served as Commissary with the rank of Major in the Confederate service. He was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-ninth and Fiftieth Congresses. He served from March 4 , 1885 to March 3 , 1889 and was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1888. He died in Ripley, Tennessee on October 9 , 1902 . He was Interred in Maplewood Cemetery. |
