Poncey-Highland is a neighborhood on the east side of Atlanta, Georgia , located south of Virginia-Highland . It so named because it is near the intersection of Ponce de Leon and North Highland avenues. Poncey-Highland is the home of Manuel's Tavern, which is a local political hangout. It is bordered by Little Five Points to the east, the Old Fourth Ward and Midtown Atlanta to the west, Inman Park to the south, and Virginia-Highland to the north. Also located in Poncey-Highland is another Atlanta landmark, the Clermont Lounge , "Atlanta's oldest strip club," according to the Clermont Lounge web site. EXTERNAL LINK Poncey-Highland is also to home of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library established in 1982 in the heart of land that was planned to be an 8-lane highway, but was successfully stopped by the surrounding impacted neighborhoods.
