The Philadelphia Hawks Australian Rules Football Club are a successful Australian Rules Football club and currently the only club to currently represent the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area in the USAFL .

HISTORY

Founded by Chris Hasson in late 1998 , the Philadelphia Crows began at the USAFL's division three level. Relying heavily on games against neighboring clubs like the Baltimore Washington Eagles , the Lehigh Valley Crocs and the New York Magpies , the club began a stint of recruiting new American and Irish Gaelic Football talent from the area. In 2002, the Crows overpowered the Milwaukee Bombers in the division three Grand Final of the US Footy Nationals . They were approached by the Australian Football League 's Hawthorn Football Club to be a Sister Club , and then changed names, colors and jumpers. The Hawks have continued to be a strong team in both the EAFL as well as in the USAFL . They have made back-to-back appearances ( 2004 , 2005 ) in the division two grand finals.

METRO LEAGUE

The Hawks support a Metro Footy league with two sides; Old City Benjamins & South Philly Whiz. The sides play throughout the season beginning in mid-March until late July.
