Patti Davis (born '''Patricia Ann Reagan''' on October 21 , 1952 in Los Angeles, California ) is the daughter of former President Of The United States Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Davis . She is the older sister of Ron Reagan , the half-sister of Maureen Reagan and the family includes her adopted brother Michael Reagan . She was called the Black Sheep of the Reagan children; and her conflict with her parents was well publicized. Davis is a bestselling author.

She was romantically involved with Bernie Leadon of the Eagles for a time in the 1970s and they lived together, much to her father's mortification. They co-wrote the song "I Wish You Peace," which appeared on the Eagles' '' One Of These Nights '' album despite the objections of the rest of the Eagles, especially Don Henley. eaglesfans.com, "The way I see it"

She is known for her rather liberal viewpoints which clashed often with her famously Conservative familiy. For example, she has a Pro-choice viewpoint on Abortion , she supports Gay Rights , and opposes Nuclear Weapons . She wrote accounts of her life that did not portray her family in a positive light and an autobiography '' The Way I See It '', which contained the revelations that her father was cold, distant, and aloof to everyone except Nancy. It also contained accusations of physical abuse by her mother. In 1994 she posed nude for '' Playboy '' magazine.

She married her Yoga instructor Paul Grilley in 1984 , but they divorced in 1990 .

In recent years, Davis reconciled with her parents, especially as they coped with her father's Alzheimer's Disease . She wrote books that portrayed her family in a more positive light; and she was active in the Reagan family's actions against John Hinckley and a CBS mini-series called '' The Reagans ''. Davis also published columns and articles in a number of newspapers and magazines, and wrote the screenplay for the Hallmark movie ''Sacrifices of The Heart''.
