Hogarth "Hoagie" Pennywhistle Gilligan, Jr. codenamed '''Numbuh Two''' or '''Numbuh 2''' is a fictional character in . Voiced by Benjamin "Ben" Diskin . His Spanish voice actor is Luis Daniel Ramirez . PROFILE Hogarth ''Hoagie'' Pennywhistle Gilligan, Jr., known by his the third oldest. He led the kids on "sled-wingers" (flying sleds) in Operation: S.N.O.W.I.N.G., but they were thwarted by textbooks thrown at them. McGillicutty was on his sled. Puns Numbuh 2 frequently cracks bad , shown in Op. C.L.O.W.N.) finds funny and is criticized for this by Numbuh Five (he only thinks it's because she lacks a sense of humour). When he hears others making funny jokes (making everyone laugh), he usually doesn't think of them as funny. His younger brother may tell him some of his bad jokes, as was revealed after Tommy made a bad pun and decided to tell his brother later. Pairings He has been in an episode with each single operative alone including all of Sector V: Numbuh 1 in Op A.R.C.H.I.V.E., Numbuh 3 in Ops C.L.U.E.S. and S.P.A.N.K.E.N.S.T.I.N.E., Numbuh 4 in Ops T.H.E.-S.H.O.G.U.N., D.O.D.G.E.B.A.L.L., B.U.L.L.I.E.S. and S.A.F.E.T.Y., and Numbuh 5 in Ops R.A.B.B.I.T. and C.L.O.W.N. BACKGROUND Although not much as been revealed about his background, it is known that he once had an addiction to chocolate sauce (Operation: S.P.A.N.K.E.N.S.T.I.N.E., in the original episode script he was formerly addicted to cranberry sauce), even seen bathing in it. Before he joined the KND, he was a Hall Monitor , partnered with Joe Balooka. APPEARANCE Numbuh 2 likes to eat, especially of overweight characters in American animation has been generally somewhat harsh. He wears an Aviator 's hat (with the number 2 on it), goggles, a blue shirt, light brown pants and black and white sneakers. Although he seldom removes his hat and goggles, he is seen to have messy brown hair. (Op A.R.C.T.I.C., Op L.I.C.E., Op C.A.K.E.D.-F.I.V.E.). He partly resembles Klunk of Dastardly And Muttley In Their Flying Machines fame. FAMILY He has a younger brother, Tommy (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker ), who often gets on his nerves. This doesn't seem to bother the younger Gilligan, who obviously looks up to Numbuh Two. Just like Hoagie, Tommy cracks bad puns and jokes. Tommy went from being Hoagie's little brother, to being an operative (Numbuh T), to becoming "The Tommy", in the course of little over a season. Despite the aggravation, however, the two seem to actually be very close. Both brothers live with their mother , who was a villain in Op T.A.P.I.O.C.A. (and also appeared in Op C.L.U.E.S. and Op S.P.A.N.K.E.N.S.T.I.N.E.). Lydia's speech patterns and occasional use of Yiddish have led some to speculate that she (and by the same token, Hoagie and Tommy) is Jewish. Although she seems rather hostile, she has actually come to the aid of the kids from time to time, although seemingly unintentionally. Lydia often forgets Numbuh 2's name, continually mixing him up with Tommy, to which Numbuh 2 often has to correct her with "That's Hoagie". He possibly has a Dog , as in Operation: T.R.I.C.Y.C.L.E. he says (in response to Tommy asking why they have to clean the garage) "because we haven't seen the dog in three months", to which Tommy replies "We have a dog?" In Operation E.N.D. a gray sheepdog can be seen alongside Tommy, Hoagie, and Betty in a photo hanging on the wall in the Gilligan household. SKILLS Numbuh Two is fond of mysteries and has undertaken the role of a Private Investigator in Operation: P.I.N.K.-E.Y.E. and has successfully completed detective work in Operation: C.L.U.E.S., as his KND training qualifies him as such. He is skilled at Piloting (he was known as "sky king Hoagie" in Operation: D.O.G.F.I.G.H.T.) and takes pride of this, angered that someone (The Kid) was better than him. He is also skilled at mechanics and building things, as he managed to re-do the birthday suits to make someone stay the same age in Operation: Z.E.R.O. INVENTIONS Numbuh 2 is the inventor of all the technologies used by Sector V (other sectors, including Moonbase, have technology officers who do the same); he also designed Sector V's Tree House . Also, Numbuh 2 seems to take great pride in his work, even going so far as to include his name in one of his former inventions (the S.H.O.P.P.I.N.G.D.A.R.T., where the H in SHOPPING stood for Hoagie, which was terminated in Op. M.U.N.C.H.I.E.S.) HERITAGE Numbuh 2 is North American, the only operative from Sector V from the area Sector V is located in. He is also mentioned to have relatives from Germany. His maternal grandmother Lydia uses Yiddish phrases when annoyed, leading some to speculate that he is Jewish (as Judaism is passed on from mother to child). However, Op. N.A.U.G.H.T.Y. runs contrary to this, as he celebrates Christmas (but then again, so does every kid in the world in that episode). RELATIONSHIPS Numbuh 1 Numbuh One and Numbuh Two have been best friends since kindergarten, as found out in Operation: Z.E.R.O. Numbuh 3 Numbuh Two can behave short-tempered towards Numbuh Three, usually when they team up as a couple. Despite his apparent impatience, he has trusted her his recurrent job as a P.I. (Operation C.R.I.M.E.). Their relationship was eventually strengthened by the appearance of Bradley the Skunk, and their subsequent adoption of him (Operation C.A.M.P.). Sharing parental responsibilities has brought the trio back together in H.O.S.P.I.T.A.L. and S.I.X.. Numbuh 4 Numbuh Four is Numbuh Two's other best friend, as stated in Operation: F.I.S.H.Y. How they became friends is not known, but they have been paired up in many episode's. As shown in the comic , they have known each other before they were in the Kids Next Door. Numbuh 2 likes to trick Numbuh 4, which annoys him (Operation: T.H.E.-S.H.O.G.U.N.) and he and Numbuh 5 like to tease Wally about his crush on Numbuh 3. (Op.B.E.A.C.H) Numbuh 5 Numbuh Five often criticizes Numbuh Two for his bad jokes and puns. However, they do seem to be good friends - in fact, when Numbuh One told the rest of Sector V to pair up in Operation: D.A.T.E., Numbuh Five immediately picked Numbuh Two. They also appeared together in R.A.B.B.I.T. and C.L.O.W.N. without any other Sector V member in it. Curiously, in Operation: C.H.O.C.O.L.A.T.E. (the continuation of R.A.B.B.I.T.) she pulled several Numbuh Two-esque puns herself ("You're about to have a meltdown!"and"You can't hurt anyone any ''Smore''.) The Numbuh Two/Numbuh Five pairing has become one of the larger ships in fandom. The Kid Numbuh 2 may have a friendly rivalry with another pilot only known as , who rivals his piloting skill in Operation: D.O.G.F.I.G.H.T. LOVE LIFE Cree Lincoln Numbuh Two has a huge crush on Cree, who is Numbuh 5's older sister, despite the fact that she's older and can't stand him. When he had been turned into a teenager in Operation: K.I.S.S., though, they had a brief romantic relationship. However, whether or not these feelings still exist is debatable, especially after Cree's outing as a villain in season 2 (Operations S.U.P.P.O.R.T., K.I.S.S., S.P.A.C.E.). The issue was also explored in Operation: S.I.T.T.E.R., which was then revealed to be a dream sequence, and thus open to interpretation. Operation: V.I.R.U.S. shows Hoagie jealous of Maurice for going with Cree to their prom dance. Numbuh 10 Numbuh 2 also has a crush on Numbuh 10 , a fact introduced in Operation: C.O.U.C.H. when he commented on how he thought she was "easy on the eyes", and brought up once again in Operation: H.O.L.I.D.A.Y, when he said "she can fly my ship any day" ALTERNATES Hank Numbuh 2 was accidentally turned into a skinny teen alter-ego (Hank) while working on an invention in Operation: K.I.S.S. to make a hamster very powerful. In this form, he won the affections of Cree (despite occasionally turning back into a kid, though Cree didn't see these transformations), and the two shared a kiss. When Cree attacked Sector V, though, Numbuh 2/Hank put his friends over his love life and stopped her, then revealed his true identity. Needless to say, Cree wasn't too happy about finding out who she'd really kissed. Numbuh 2 Guy The alter-ego of Numbuh 2 in Operation: R.E.P.O.R.T. when he told his side of the story. Acted like a superhero in a comic book. Had "penetra-vision" (nothing can escape his gaze). His one weakness was supposedly anchovies, which the DCFDTL defeated him with. Boys Next Door Member In Operation F.U.T.U.R.E. there's a boy in the BND who looks and acts like Numbuh 2. Voiced by Tom Kenny . Negative Numbuh 2 Negative Numbuh Two (Eigaoh Eltsihwynnep Nagillig) is Numbuh Two's opposite, introduced in Operation: P.O.O.L. Unlike Positive Two, many people find his jokes funny. Vice President Hoagie P. Gilligan An evil adult alternate universe version of Numbuh 2. He tried to get President Uno (a.k.a Numbuh 1) to sign the bill of no rights for kids, and had evil adults Numbuhs 3 and 4 at his disposal. Had a mustache. NOTABLE ALIASES

EPISODES STARRING NUMBUH TWO ''Numbuh 2 stars in almost every episode. This list only includes ones that don't star others; where he is absolutely crucial to the plot.'' Numbuh 2 stars in several mid-Season 6 episodes, including Operations M.E.S.S.A.G.E., S.I.X., T.R.I.C.Y.C.L.E.; he also was prominent in C.R.I.M.E.
Operation: Z.E.R.O. In the movie, Numbuh 2 suggests remodeling the KND's Birthday suits so, when worn, they will make the person who wears them stay a kid and not a Senior Citizombie. He sent Numbuhs 3 and 4 to Sector V's treehouse to get a machine; but he had to work without it once they were turned into Senior Citizombies. He then worked in a closet guarded by Numbuh 86, finishing at least four birthday suits. When Numbuh 86 was Senior-Citizombified, she turned Numbuh 2 into a Senior Citizombie. The birthday suits were later used on Numbuhs 2, 3, 4, and 5 by Numbuh 1 to help him pedal the Moonbase into Earth. STATISTICS
