The Windsor-Zillmere club formed from the merger of neighbouring Windsor and Zillmere Football Clubs in 1962.

Sandgate merged with the club to form North Brisbane in 1991.

The Northern Eagles were formed in 1997, and were renamed Zillmere Eagles in 2005.

The group has suffered a large player loss after the 2006 Grand Final defeat to Southport. However, youngsters such as 2006 Grogan Medallist Matty Payne, ex-Essendon utility Austin Lucy, running utility Aiden Pratt and up-and-coming full back Ben Niland-Rowe should mean the club will still be as consistent as ever for the upcoming 2007 Queensland State League season.

In recent years, the club has produced such AFL players as: Cheynee Stiller , Josh Drummond , Jamie Charman , Robert Copeland , Mitch Hahn , Daniel Pratt and Danny Dickfos . Of last years playing group, Ben Warren and Daniel Dzufer are now on AFL lists.
