New York State Route 240 is a State Highway in New York , USA . The highway extends southward from northern Erie County into northern Cattaraugus County . The northern part of NYS 240, Harlem Road, is a major north-south route through the Suburb s east of the City Of Buffalo . The southern part of NYS 240 south of the Cattaraugus County line is a state highway in name only. This part is in fact maintaned by the Cattaraugus County highway department and as such is dually tagged as NY 240/'''CR 32''' for its entire length in the county. County Route 32 is the only route that has a marked concurrency with a state route in the county. ROUTE DESCRIPTION NY 240 begins at an intersection with NY 242 in the community of Ashford. NY 240 continues to the north as West Valley Road, also known as Cattaraugus County Road 32 throughout its run through the county. As it passes over Cattaraugus Creek it becomes known as Vaughn Street. In the village of Springville, NY 240 intersects with NY 39 (E Main St). At its intersection with Genesse Rd in East Concord, it briefly follows Allen Rd before spliting northwest as Glenwood East Concord Rd. In Glenwood it changes name to State Rd. In West Falls, as it passes Knapp Rd, The NY 240 becomes known as Davis Rd until it turns west at Ellicott Rd. It turns northwest at Powers Rd and continues until it intersects and forms a concurrency with NY 277 (Chestnut Ridge Rd). The two routes become known as Buffalo Road through the village of Orchard Park, meeting U.S. Route 20A (Quaker St) in the middle of the village. North of the village in the town of Orchard Park, NY 240/277 meets Milestrip Road, a major east-west arterial during Buffalo Bills home games. To the north of Milestrip is U.S. Route 20 (Southwestern Blvd), followed by the split of the concurrency just north of US 20. While NY 277 (Union Rd) heads due north, NY 240 turns northwest and becomes Orchard Park Rd. Now in the town of West Seneca, NY 240 meets NY 16 (Seneca St) were it becomes known as Harlem Road for the rest of its length. Next is a junction with NY 354 (Clinton St) before passing underneath I-90 (New York State Thruway). NY 240 interchanges with NY 130 (Broadway St) in the Sloan. Just north is Walden Avenue and the Walden Galleria. To the north of the mall and west of the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, NY 240 intersects both the former routing of NY 33 at Genesee Street and its current routing slightly north of Genesee on the Kensington Expressway. North of the Expressway, NY 240 enters the heart of Amherst, meeting NY 5 (Main St) in the hamlet of Snyder. Heading north, NY 240 continues as it comes to an end at the intersection of NY 324 (Sheridan Dr) and I-290 (Youngman Expressway) in Amherst. MAJOR INTERSECTIONS
