New York State Route 104B is a State Highway in Central New York . This highway provides a means to connect New York State Route 104 (the principal highway along the southern shore of Lake Ontario ) with the northern portion of New York State Route 3 (the principal highway along the eastern short of Lake Ontario) while bypassing the village of Mexico , where the two highways intersect. The western terminus of NY 104B is at NY 104 in New Haven , and the eastern terminus is at NY 3 near Texas . NY 104B runs close to the shore of Lake Ontario along its southeastern corner in Oswego County . It is part of the Seaway Trail , a National Scenic Byway . ROUTE DESCRIPTION NY 104B is a short (6.14 mile) bypass route, two lanes throughout its length, primarily for the benefit of lake-bound recreational traffic. Though signed east-west, it actually travels northwest between the town of New Haven and a point slightly beyond the hamlet of Texas . Surrounded on both sides by dense woods, it passes through no built-up areas and encounters only county roads between its two termini. Its most major intersection, about halfway along its length, is with Oswego County Road 1. Alternate route Travellers not in a hurry can travel an 10 extra miles to pass through historic Mexico along NY 3 and NY 104 . Mexico contains several buildings of historic importance, and a pleasant Main Street, and also provides a greater variety of services than can be found along Route 104B.
