The Recreation Ground, was redeveloped at the beginning of the 2004/05 season, to meet the standards set by the Football Conference . Thus was renamed to The New Recreation Ground, often nicknamed The New Rec. The current capacity is believed to be 4,500 with 1,000 seats avaliable. However the record attendance was around 9,500 when Grays were host to Chelmsford City in the FA Cup , 1959 . The average attendance for the 2006/07 season was 1,077. Below the bar area is an indoor 5-a-side AstroTurf pitch. This is hired out to the public and also hosts various community schemes. |
