Nauru House (also called '''80 Collins Street''') is a 52 story building in Melbourne , Australia . When completed it became the tallest building in Melbourne, until superseded in 1980. It is Octagon al, and now has an Aluminium Facade . It was built as part of an investment program by the Government of Nauru (It was widely thought that the physical size of the Pacific island state is less than half that of Nauru House's the floor space. This is in fact incorrect, as 1 sq km = 1 000 000 sq m and the island is 21 sq km which equates to 21 000 000 sq m. The building therefore only makes up 0.24% of Nauru's land area) . Economic mismanagement forced the Nauruan government to offload its foreign property portfolio, and Nauru House is now owned by the Queensland Investment Corporation . FACTS Built: 1972 - 1977 Address: 80 Collins Street Height to roof: 183 m Height to pinnacle: 190 m Number of floors : 52 Total floor space: 50,500m2 SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINKS
