The National Civic League is an Organization founded in 1894 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a meeting of politicians, policy-makers, journalists, and educators (including Theodore Roosevelt , Louis Brandeis , Marshall Field , and Frederick Law Olmsted ) to discuss the future of American Cities . Originally called the '''National Municipal League''', it aimed to increase the transparency and honesty of city governments, and share knowledge between cities. It is best known for its All-America City Award , given to ten communities annually. It also has a Community Services Program, New Politics Program, and Federal-Community Partnership Program. The current interim president of the NCL is Derek Okubo, who replaced Christopher T. Gates on June 15 , 2006 . EXTERNAL LINKS |
