Myriam Montemayor Cruz better known as '''Myriam''' was born on February 8 , 1981 in Monterrey , Nuevo León , Mexico . She is a Mexican recording artist, who rose to fame by winning the first generation of La Academia . She is the seventh child out of eight. Her career began with the musical groups: Obsesión, Conspiración, Ébano, Liberación and Compass. But her dream didn't come true until 2002 . She was selected for the musical reality show in México "La Academia", during each concert Myriam made the people fall in love with her beautiful and strong voice. Duirng this reality show she sang : "Como la Flor", "Mudanzas", "De mi enamorate", "El me mintió", and others. After 5 months, the reality show came to an end in one of the most important places in Mexico, "El Auditorio Nacional", where she was announced the winner. Myriam's first album consisted of the songs (all covers) that she sang during her stay in La Academia. Her second album, Una Mujer, was led by First single "Sin Ti No Hay Nada". This album included a song written by Soraya titled "Como Seria", which was later recorded by the singer songwriter and released as a single. At this time, TV Azteca launched their first Desafio De Estrellas . Myriam was able to stay current with the audience and it served as promotion for her album. Myriam ended up winning third place to Yahir (1sr Place) and Nadia (2nd Place). After the show was over, a special edition of her album was released with studio versions of several of the songs she performed on Desafio De Estrellas , along with two unreleased songs, including "Amor Secreto" which was later recorded by Paulina Rubio for her album, Pau Latina. In 2004 Myriam returned with her CD which in only 2 weeks reached gold, selling more than 70,000 copies, Hasta El Limite is the 1st single of this material, and has been the single most successful of this talented exacademic, this material includes compositions of Leonel from the famous couple of singer Sin Bandera, from the famous Italian, Tiziano Ferro, and also has a theme composed by Estrella and Myriam; the theme name is Porque Soy Mujer, which was the second single of the album. Months later this material reached Platinium Status. 2005 Vete De Aqui is the new album Myriam launched, she as always brings new and fresh things, this time she was trying out a new genre, Grupero (in USA the nearest to this genre is Tex-Mex ), also this album includes Pop and Country music, in sales this album wasn't the best, but Vete de Aqui reached Gold status and the achieve of this CD is that EMI launched 5 singles of it. Lo Que Siento Es Amor, was the most successful of the 5 singles. Myriam returned 2007 with the tribute of Ana Gabriel , Simplemente Amigos (also the name of the 1st single), which entered to the top 10 of the most recongnized CD's store at half of week the album was launched, by the week it was in 1st place, being one of the most waited albums of Mexico and USA, automatically being 3xplatinium by reaching 300,000 sold copies in only 5 hours the material was aveilable, although it wasn't heavily promoted by radio, many were excited by the return of "The Queen of the Academy". The second single is Mar & Arena witch has been good played in all the radio stations, although Evidencias is not an official single yet, it is better played in radio than Mar & Arena and Simplemente Amigos. Now Myriam is chosing the themes for her new album, which may include themes from Reyli (exelefante) and also themes she composed. EMI had just launched in August 2007 the new album of Myriam named The Best Of... which includes all the singles of the artists plus a CD which have the best songs that Myriam did in "La Academia". All the songs are remasterizated having now a better sound. This album has 2 weeks froms his realase and it's reporting high numbers of copies sold. DISCOGRAPHY 1.
