Mountain States Conference

The Mountain States Conference, also known as the'''Big Seven''' and '''Skyline Conference''', was a College Athletic Conference based in the western United States . The league was established in 1938 with seven charter members (see below) and dissolved in 1962 after four of its members left to form the Western Athletic Conference and one other ( Montana ) left for the Big Sky Conference .

University Of Colorado , left in 1948 - Now in the Big 12 Conference

Colorado State University - Now in the Mountain West Conference

University Of Denver , Dropped football in 1961. Now in the Sun Belt Conference for most sports including men's Basketball

University Of Utah - Now in the Mountain West Conference

Utah State University - Now in the Western Athletic Conference

University Of Wyoming - Now in the Mountain West Conference

University Of Montana , 1948-1962, joined from the Pacific Coast Conference , now a member of the Big Sky Conference .

University Of New Mexico , 1951-1962, joined from the Border Conference , now a member of the Mountain West Conference .
