Mount Caburn is a 480-foot (146m) isolated peak, one of the highest landmarks in East Sussex , England , about one mile (1.6km) east of Lewes overlooking Glynde village. It is an isolated part of the South Downs , separated by Glynde Reach, a tributary of the River Ouse . On its summit are the remains of a large Iron Age hill Fort , built around 100 BC . It is a popular site for Paragliding and is known as a site frequented by Butterflies . In fiction it appears as Wealden Hill in the novel of the same name by Graeme K Talboys. EXTERNAL LINKS |
