Information About

Modern Primitivism

Roland Loomis is considered the father of the modern primitive movement. The 1989 RE/Search book Modern Primitives is largely responsible for the promotion of the concept of modern primitivism.

Human branding is on the rise with the Modern Primitivism cultures rise. The history of branding goes back further than the founding of Modern Primitivism in the 70s. Roland Loomis, the founder of the culture, is the most prominent figure in the culture displaying several marks of his personal body play and one of the largest being his Ibitoe, a ritual that comes from New Guinea. Although many of the types of body modification seem new and exciting, they almost all have roots back to another cultures history. Now how they have been they have been tweaked to work in this culture is new. People who are a part of this culture are devoted to it. They may practice it daily, weekly, monthly, at conferences, gatherings or whenever. The rituals may be done in groups of people or individually, but they are always knowledgeable about it and not trying something new until the research has been done. Modern Primitivism is a culture that is slowly spreading and is a culture that more and more people are becoming a part of.
