The current Minister of Labour is the Honourable Steve Peters . The Official Opposition Critic is Jim Wilson .

The Ministry of Labour and its agencies play a key role in Ontario by promoting safe and healthy workplaces, fairness in employment and stable labour relations. The ministry’s three program responsibilities are delivered from a head office in Toronto and 19 offices organized around four regions, centred in Ottawa, Hamilton, Sudbury and Toronto. As well, the ministry oversees the work of eight specialized agencies.

The Ministry of Labour's (MOL's) core Occupational Health and Safety Programs are comprised of 3 specific subject areas. 1: Construction Health and Safety, under the direction of Michael Chappell, CRSP, BSc, CET; 2: Industrial Health and Safety, under the direction of Wayne de Lorme;, and Mining Health and Safety undert he direction of (vacant)

The Employment standards program is designed to protect the vulnerbale righst of workers, and address worker complaints for unpaid wages and other violations of the legialtion. This program is carried out under the direction of Brian Lemire.

For public convenience, the MOL is split into 4 Regional territories, 1: Western region - Director Sophie Dennis, 2: Eastern Region - Director Vik Pakalnis, 3: Northern Region - Director Candys Ballanger-Michaud, and Central Region - Director Philby Savouroya
