Mikveh Israel




Mikveh Israel (מקוה ישראל; "The Hope of Israel" in ish Agricultural settlement established in the Land Of Israel in 1870 . The name was suggested by Wolf Grinstein, one of the first five students who later became a teacher at the school.

Charles Netter (sometimes his name is spelled Carl) of the Alliance Israelite Universelle received the land from the Ottoman Empire as a gift and started an agricultural school that was eventually attended by many of the first Zionist pioneers. Baron Edmond James De Rothschild helped funding the upkeep of the school.
