Mary Travers (singer)




Mary Travers (born 9 November 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky ) is a member of the Folk group Peter, Paul And Mary , along with Peter Yarrow and Noel "Paul" Stookey . Together, they formed one of the most successful folk-singing groups of the 1960s .

Travers is a graduate of the Little Red School House . She lived in Greenwich Village , New York City, as a high school student.

The group Peter, Paul and Mary launched in 1961 and broke up in 1970 , after which Travers pursued a solo career, recording five albums on her own. The group reformed in 1978 and have since toured extensively and issued many new albums.

The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall Of Fame in 1999 .


HEALTH PROBLEMS

On , 2005 , it reported that she continues to improve.

On December 9 , 2005 , Peter Paul & Mary performed live with the New York Choral Society at Carnegie Hall , the first performance since Mary's illness.

Recently the trio had to cancel several dates of their summer 2007 tour, as Mary took longer than expected to recover from back surgery. {Link without Title} They will make up at least one of the dates, at the Northfork Theatre (formerly Westbury Music Fair) in December 2007.
