Marian Nelson McLawhorn is a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's ninth House district, including constituents in Pitt county. A resident of Grifton, North Carolina , McLawhorn is currently (as of 2006) serving in her fourth term in the state House, where she holds the position of Democratic Whip. Prior to her service as a State Representative McLawhorn served as Mayor for the town of Grifton. She is a former librarian. Her key issue is education. She recently was re-elected to serve her 5th term after defeating Republican candidate Tony Moore in the November 2006 election. |
