HISTORICAL POPULATION: Marathia at one time was large enough to have their own elementary school. Today the school is closed, an overrun by vegetation. Children today are bussed to the nearby town of Amaliada for grades K-12. Marathia has a church (Koimisi tis Theotokou - Ιερός Ναός Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου) which is located near the center of the village, right on the National Road (Greek highway system).Today (2007) the Priest of the unique church is:"Papa-Giorgos" The area in the southeast and west is covered with forests and agricultural lands. Its beach is located to its west and another in Kourouta. Marathia has a great beach and a Camping. Also there is a cinema called: "Cine Marathia". EXTERNAL LINKS
