Legislative elections were held in Luxembourg on June 13 , 2004 . Voters elected 60 members of the Grand Duchy's Unicameral Legislature , the Chamber Of Deputies . As expected, the ruling Christian Social People's Party (CSV) of Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker won a plurality of seats and became the majority partner in a coalition government. Terms of office are five years. The Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party increased their representation and became the junior partner in the coalition government. The Greens also slightly increased their representation. The main loser was the liberal Democratic Party . The election coincided with the 2004 European Parliament Election . RESULTS Under Luxembourg's electoral system the country is divided into four multi-member constituencies: Centre , Est , Nord , and Sud . Voters may vote for as many candidates as the region elects Deputies. The number of voters cast for each party therefore cannot be stated. EXTERNAL LINK |
