Sullivan was first elected to the Newfoundland legislature in 1992. From 1996 to 1998 he served as Leader of the Official Opposition. In late December 2006 Sullivan announced his resignation from provincial politics. On January 25, 2007, Sullivan was appointed as Ambassador for Fisheries Conservation by the Government of Canada. Sullivan was born and raised in Calvert on the Southern Shore of Newfoundland. The son of a fisherman, Sullivan studied at Memorial University and obtained Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees. |
