  • 15 November An Aero O/Y Junkers F.13 disappeared en route Tallinn to Helsinki.

  • January 16 - TWA Flight 3 a DC-3 airplane returning to California. After refueling in Las Vegas, the plane took off on a clear night, and twenty-three minutes later crashed into "Double Up Peak" near the 8300-foot level of Mount Potosi, 30 miles southwest of Las Vegas. All 22 passengers were killed including actress Carol Lombard and her mother.

  • August 24Air Transat Flight 236 runs out of fuel over the Atlantic Ocean and makes an emergency landing in the Azores . Upon landing some of the tires blow out, causing a fire that is extinguished by emergency personnel on the ground. None of the 304 people on board the Airbus A330 are seriously injured.
