Ladytron are a band formed in Liverpool, England . BACKGROUND Ladytron formed in the summer of 1999 and began recording tracks for their debut album; "604", shortly after. The album was released in early 2001 on the Emperor Norton/Invicta HIFI labels to critical acclaim, by which time their single 'Playgirl' was bringing them some national and international attention. The follow up "Light & Magic" was released in Autumn 2002 to wider exposure, and spawned the underground hits 'Seventeen', 'Evil' and 'Blue Jeans'. Following 18 months on tour supporting that album, they recorded their third album, "Witching Hour" in early 2004. The album was released in 2005, along with 2 singles including "destroy everything you touch" which is now their most well known track. Ladytron have a cult audience worldwide, and have toured extensively in support of "Witching Hour" from mid 2005 to mid 2007. Across Europe they opened for Nine Inch Nails in early 2007 at the invitation of Trent Reznor. Style Ladytron make Electronic Pop Music , using an array of vintage analogue equipment to achieve their distinct sound. Albums so far have focused on a balance between pop structures and analogue electronic sound, along with some more experimental leanings. Third album; '' Witching Hour '' saw an augmentation of their sound, leading the album to be described by Pitchfork as a "quantum leap record". {Link without Title} INSTRUMENTATION When playing live, Ladytron use vintage synthesizers/keyboards, including a Korg MS-10 (played by Wu), an MS-20 (Aroyo), Roland SH-2 (Hunt) as well as four MS-2000Bs (which are modern digital "analogue modeling" synths). They have also used Sequential Circuits Pro-One, Korg Delta, Korg Monopoly and various other synthesizers. Live, they also use live drums, triggers, guitar and bass. REMIXING Ladytron have produced remixes for many artists including Placebo , Blondie , Gang Of Four , David Gahan , Goldfrapp , Bloc Party , Kings Of Convenience , Indochine , Apoptygma Berzerk , Soulwax , Nine Inch Nails and Simian . Current Status After concentrating much of 2006 on the Americas, 'Witching hour' has finally been released in Europe on the German based Major Records, with a dual-disc edition re-release in the UK on the So Sweet label.
