The airline was established in July
2002 and started operations on
28 April 2003 . It is owned by Translloyd (55%) and LAN Airlines (45%).

- Domestic scheduled destinations: Lan Ecuador flies internationally from both Guayaquil and Quito , but does not offer domestic flying between these cities unless connecting from an international flight.
- International scheduled destinations: Buenos Aires , Lima (codeshare with Lan Peru ), Madrid , Miami , New York , Santiago .
All flights are operated with Chilean-registered aircraft by Lan Airlines.
Lan Ecuador does not have aircraft registered in its own name, but it uses
Airbus A320-200 and
Boeing 767-300 aircraft leased from Lan Airlines as required.
Lan's Airbus A320 fleet is undergoing an interior conversion that will include the elimination of a dedicated
Business Class section and the introduction of leather seats in
Economy Class . To cater to business class travelers, the middle seats in the forward economy class section will be closed off--resulting in a 2x2 seating configuration--according to the amount of business class travelers on a particular flight.
Lan's Boeing 767 fleet is undergoing a similar interior conversion that will include the elimination of
First Class , the introduction of lie-flat seats in a rebranded "Premium Business Class", and an updated
In-flight Entertainment system that includes larger private video monitors and a greater audio/visual selection.
