Katsucon is a Fan Convention for Anime , Manga and Japanese Culture enthusiasts. It is an Annual three-day event held in or around Washington DC . Katsucon is traditionally held in February over Presidents' Day weekend. HISTORY Katsucon began in 's security staff. Based out of the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia , Katsucon enjoyed steady growth for its first three years until breaking the 1000 attendee mark and outgrowing the HIEC in 1997 . In 1998 , Katsucon moved operations to Washington, DC area and, for one year, was held in the Radisson Mark Center. From , the convention moved inside the Capital Beltway to the Omni Shoreham Hotel , located in Washington DC. It was held from February 17 to 19, 2006 . Katsucon 13 (February 16-18, 2007 ) had an attendance of 6,200 paid attendees. Katsucon 14 ( 2008 ) is planned to be held on February 15 to February 17 . EVENTS The convention features Japanese creators of anime and Manga , Cosplay , Voice Actors from anime and Videogames , Artists , vendors and exhibits, Panel s, Workshops , and Gaming .
