KBVU began broadcasting on July 20, 1994 as the Eureka, California Fox affiliate. Prior to KBVU signing on, KAEF used to be the area's Fox affiliate.

The station is essentially a repeater station of Paradise, California Fox station KCVU-TV .

Though ( KVIQ ), The CW ( KUVU-LP ), and Univision ( KEUV-LP ) outlets in the market.

In California, the Eureka television market and the Yuma-El Centro market are the only TV markets currently not available on either Dish Network or DirecTV .
