APPEARANCE The Iriscam is completely indistinguishable from a colored contact lens. Once attached to the user's eye, it is virtually invisible, unless its color is not the same as that of the user's eye. This has only happened once, when Artemis Fowl II used one of Holly's hazel Iriscams in one of his blue eyes, causing his eyes to appear to have Two Different Colors . APPLICATION The Iriscam is kept in a vial containing a solution, presumably a sterile preservative, until needed. It is then placed on the eye in the same manner as a normal Contact Lens . FUNCTION The Iriscam is a versatile and invaluable tool of the Lower Elements Police . It has an amazing amount of uses in such a small space. Camera Its main function is as a camera, as suggested by the name "Iris''cam''". The camera wirelessly broadcasts video back to a receiver possessed by Foaly, who is always recording it for future reference. It allows others to remotely see what the user sees. The camera can zoom to an unknown extent, which is used frequently. Filters One of the camera's amazing properties are its numerous filters, which affect both the user's and receiver's view.
Life signs monitor Through the eye, the camera can read all the life signs of the user. Foaly can see heartbeat, breathing rate, blood pressure, brain activity, and pain readings. POWER SOURCE The Iriscam draws its power from the body, using its waste heat and even electricity from the brain and nerves. However, it does have a battery, though its life is unknown. |
