The European Region of the International Lesbian and Gay Association (short name: '''ILGA-Europe''') is the European branch of ILGA , created in 1996.

ILGA-Europe works for human rights and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people at European level.

This Brussels -based organisation is lobbying European institutions, primarily the European Union , the OSCE and the Council Of Europe .

Since 2000, ILGA-Europe receives funding from the European Commission for the sexual orientation part of pan-European anti-discrimination program. Since 2003, the organisation has also developed its work around transgender issues and non-EU countries.

On December 11th 2006, ILGA-Europe (along with LSVD and LBL ) were successful in being granted ECOSOC consultative status with the UN http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2006/ecosoc6242.doc.htm .
