Born in Guangzhou in 1946, Ha Yu secretly went to Hong Kong in 1962 where he studied there becoming a temporary actor whilst being a student. Later he went to Reditelevision ( Now ATV Broadcasting Company Hong Kong) as a key male actor changing his name to Ha Yu （夏雨. In 1974, he joined TVB , there he was a key male actor, acting key roles especially in Gu Long's novels. In 2000, he joined back TVB and acted out in a few serials. He won a Best Male Supporting Actor in 2006 for his portrayal of a useless son in the sitcom My Family . In 2007, he acted in quite a few serials, perhaps best known in the popular series Heart Of Greed which he acted as Dai Bau.
