The (or ESAKE in Greek) is the name of the professional Hellenic Basketball Association in Greece . Its two major divisions are the A1 and A2. The top eight teams in the A1 are eligible to enter the play-offs whereas the last two teams in the standings are relegated to the A2.
Including European basketball powerhouses Panathinaikos and Olympiacos , the HEBA league is one of the most competitive in Europe, being ranked as one of the top 3 professional basketball leagues outside of the NBA along with the Serie A (basketball) league of Italy and the Asociación De Clubs De Baloncesto basketball league of Spain .
