Bahamas and the
Caribbean . It operates as a
Continental Connection carrier for
Continental Airlines . Its main base is
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport , with hubs at
Miami International Airport ,
Orlando International Airport and
Tampa International Airport .

The airline was established in October 1988 and started operations on
1 December 1990 . It was founded by Thomas Cooper, a former captain for
Eastern Air Lines . Initially it operated as an on-demand air taxi between
Miami, Florida and
Cap-Haïtien ,
Haiti , but was relocated to the Bahamas, when the political climate in Haiti forced the operation to halt. In May 1994 a codeshare agreement was signed with
United Airlines . In December 1995 Gulfstream made the transition from a
FAR 135 carrier to FAR 121, allowing operation of larger aircraft. Its parent company, G-Air Holdings, acquired Paradise International Airlines in August 1998 . The United Airlines agreement was replaced by a similar agreement with Continental Airlines. Gulfstream International Airlines is owned by G-Air Holdings (72%) and has 514 employees (at March
2007 ).
Gulfstream International Airlines operates the following services (at February

- Domestic scheduled destinations: Fort Walton Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Key West, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, Tallahassee, Tampa, and West Palm Beach.
- International scheduled destinations: Andros, Bahamas , Bimini, Bahamas , Freeport, Bahamas , George Town, Bahamas , Governors Harbour , Marsh Harbour , Nassau, Bahamas , North Eleuthera , Cat Island, Bahamas and Treasure Cay .
- Gulfstream operates some charter flights that are not under the Continental Connection code, including twice daily flights from Miami to Havana , Cuba .
