(born on 12 September 1958 in Chicago , Illinois , USA ) is an American movie, television and theatre actor who was trained at Northwestern University ( Evanston , Illinois). He is married to Carolee Carmello (who is also an actress), with whom he has a daughter Zoe Edelman and a son Ethan Edelman . He made his Broadway debut in the 1984 production of Oliver! and started attracting serious attention as Cliff in the 1987 Broadway Revival of ''Cabaret'' .
