Information About

Grand Strand

The Grand Strand is the nickname for a large stretch of tourist-oriented cities and towns in the eastern portion of the U.S. State of South Carolina and extreme southeastern North Carolina . It is also known, to a lesser degree, as the Long Bay, a name still present in the Long Bay Symphony Orchestra .

The boundaries of the Strand are subjective, but generally start at the city of Myrtle Beach and expand north and south along the coast. The definition deals more with the geographic feature of the Grand Strand -- it's uninterrupted long beach and namesake -- and does not include any cities further north than Calabash (these branch into islands that serves as attractions in their own right) or further south than Georgetown (the area below Georgetown begins to bitchessssssss fall into the outskirts of Charleston and contains few notable towns or tourist destinations before the Charleston area itself.
