Gooding County is a is Gooding 6 . Gooding County was created by the Idaho Legislature on January 28 , 1913 by a partition of Lincoln County . It is named for Frank R. Gooding , an early 20th Century governor and United States Senator from Idaho. GEOGRAPHY According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 1,901 Km&2 (734 Mi&2 ). 1,893 km&2 (731 mi&2) of it is land and 8 km&2 (3 mi&2) of it (0.42%) is water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 14,155 people, 5,046 households, and 3,718 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 7/km&2 (19/mi&2). There were 5,505 housing units at an average density of 3/km&2 (8/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 87.59% White , 0.23% Black or African American , 0.84% Native American , 0.23% Asian , 0.06% Pacific Islander , 8.24% from Other Races , and 2.80% from two or more races. 17.05% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 5,046 households out of which 36.10% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.90% were Married Couples living together, 7.60% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.30% were non-families. 22.00% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.50% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.22. In the county the population was spread out with 29.60% under the age of 18, 8.70% from 18 to 24, 25.10% from 25 to 44, 21.20% from 45 to 64, and 15.40% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 104.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.00 males. The median income for a household in the county was $31,888, and the median income for a family was $36,290. Males had a median income of $25,321 versus $17,903 for females. The Per Capita Income for the county was $14,612.
