Gills Rock has strong history and tradition of commercial fishing which continues to this very day. {Link without Title} The Door County Maritime Museum is located there, and the area is also very popular with Scuba divers who explore the many shipwrecks in and around ''Death's Door'', the narrow straight connecting Lake Michigan to Green Bay , which is also know as Porte Des Morts . It is also the departing site of a passenger-only ferry to Washington Island featuring both ferry rides and narrated train tours upon arriving on Washington Island.
