After having been a Italian Liberal Party 's activist in the 1980s, he was not active in politics until he joined Forza Italia when it was founded in 1994. In the same year he was elected to the Italian Chamber Of Deputies . In 1995 he ran successfully for the post of president of the Veneto Region, and he was re-elected in 2000 (with almost 60% of the votes) and 2005. |
