Geotechnics




It embraces the fields of Soil Mechanics and Rock Mechanics , and many of the engineering aspects of Geology , Geophysics , Hydrology , and related sciences. Geotechnics is practiced by both Engineering Geologists and Geotechnical Engineer s.

A special geotechnical field is to prevent local Natural Hazard s in the mountains like Avalanche s or Mud Flow s, or to protect the population against damages caused by Landslide s and Rockslide s, Sinkholes or by local Flood s.
