Geoff, also known as "Henry" (after the
Bouncer .
In the
Sheffield Shield he captained between 1988 and 1992, leading the team to the title in 1992, his final game. In his career for the state he took 395 wickets. His positive aggressive captaincy is said to have influenced
NSW colleagues and Australian captains
Mark Taylor and
Steve Waugh . He also had a brief stint at
Lancashire in the English
County Championship .
He is now a commentator and has worked for ABC Radio,
Channel 9 and Foxsports amongst other broadcasters. He is also a journalist and has contributed to the Sydney Morning Herald and other newspapers and magazines in various countries.
He received the
Order Of Australia in 1990 for services to cricket and in 2002 he was given the Australian Sports Medal. He is also a qualified optometrist, graduating with a Bachelor of Optometry(BOptom) from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
