The former organisation, Pioneer LDC, was renamed to the current name of Geneon after the successful -based advertising and entertainment corporation Dentsu , and is quoted on the Tokyo Stock Exchange .

According to the Japanese Wikipedia page, Geneon is a blend of the English words, generate and '''eon'''. Despite this, the voice over in Geneon trailers pronounces the company's name using a hard G sound rather than a J.

On August 24, 2007, it was announced by ICV2 that ADV Films will handle distribution, marketing and sales of Geneon properties on October 1.
