''FUCK YOU HEROES'' is an anthology of photos taken by Glen E. Friedman , one of the few Photojournalists to document the American underground music scene during the days when Punk Rock was just beginning to galvanize itself into a social movement. Although mostly based in Southern California , Friedman's work also includes photos shot in Washington D.C. , San Francisco , Boston , and New York . Featured are photos of Punk Rock icons such as Black Flag , Dead Kennedys , Minor Threat , The Misfits , Bad Brains and Fugazi , and Hip Hop innovators including Public Enemy , Ice-T , Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C. . The book also documents the revolutionary Skateboarding scene of the mid to late 1970s, lead by Dogtown pioneers such as Tony Alva , Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta . The title is a reference to the book's many famous subjects, who are heroes in the eyes of many for saying "Fuck You" to authority figures, governments and corporations trying to limit others. |
