Frye Island is composed of 1,000 mostly wooded acres interlaced with 22 miles of dirt roads. On the island, there are two marinas, various athletic and recreational facilities, several public beaches, a convenience store, an ice cream stand, a restaurant with a bar, and a golf club with a lounge that is open to the public. GEOGRAPHY Frye Island is approxmimately 1.5 miles wide (at the widest point) and 2.5 miles long. According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 4.1 Km&2 (1.6 Mi&2 ). 3.4 km&2 (1.3 mi&2) of it is land and 0.7 km&2 (0.3 mi&2) of it is Water . The total area is 16.88% water. DEMOGRAPHICS Frye Island has approximately 450 homes. The Census 2 of 2000 lists the population as zero.
