Franklin County was named after Franklin D. Richards an Apostle of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints (it is the only Franklin County in the United States that is not named after Benjamin Franklin ). It is part of the Logan, UT-ID Metropolitan Statistical Area .

According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 1,731 Km&2 (668 Mi&2 ). 1,723 km&2 (665 mi&2) of it is land and 8 km&2 (3 mi&2) of it (0.44%) is water.

As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 11,329 people, 3,476 households, and 2,874 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 7/km&2 (17/mi&2). There were 3,872 housing units at an average density of 2/km&2 (6/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 95.11% White , 0.11% Black or African American , 0.29% Native American , 0.14% Asian , 0.04% Pacific Islander , 3.42% from Other Races , and 0.89% from two or more races. 5.22% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 3,476 households out of which 48.00% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.60% were Married Couples living together, 5.80% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.30% were non-families. 16.00% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.24 and the average family size was 3.64.

In the county the population was spread out with 37.30% under the age of 18, 9.30% from 18 to 24, 24.20% from 25 to 44, 17.50% from 45 to 64, and 11.70% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 28 years. For every 100 females there were 99.40 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.30 males.

The median income for a household in the county was $36,061, and the median income for a family was $40,185. Males had a median income of $30,071 versus $21,077 for females. The Per Capita Income for the county was $13,702.
