Frances O'Connor (born on June 12 , 1967 in Wantage , Oxfordshire , England ) is an Anglo - Australia n Actress .

At two years of age she moved to Perth , Western Australia , with her Crystallographer father and Pianist mother. O'Connor was raised a strict Roman Catholic and attended a Convent school in Perth, but considers Melbourne her home. O'Connor attended the Western Australian Academy Of Performing Arts as well as earned a BA in Literature from the Curtin University Of Technology in Western Australia .

Her long term boyfriend is Gerald Lepkowski , and O'Connor gave birth to the couple's first child, Luka, in April 2005 .
