FontForge (formerly known as '''PfaEdit''') is a Typeface (font) Editor program supporting several font formats like TrueType , PostScript , OpenType , CID -keyed, Multi-master , CFF , SVG , BDF , Datafork TrueType , etc. It is Free Software and distributed under the BSD License , can create fonts, and convert them from one format to another. Fonts created with FontForge can be stored in a font-neutral format called " Spline font database files" using the ''.sfd'' extension, or exported in a variety of font formats. FontForge is available for several Operating System s and is localized in several languages. Fontforge is developed by George Williams . George Williams has also developed many other software programs and fonts. A few notable fonts are Caslon Roman Unicode Font , the Monospace font family, etc. Among other things, FontForge is used as a basis for building fonts, for example, the Free UCS Outline Fonts ( Freefont ).
