The Eurovision Song Contest 1978 was the twenty third Eurovision and was held on April 22 , 1978 in Paris . With Denise Fabre and Léon Zitrone as the presenters, the contest was won by Izhar Cohen & the Alphabeta who represented Israel, with their song " A-Ba-Ni-Bi ".

The winning entry is a love song sung in the Hebrew equivalent of Pig Latin . Translating the translation of the title it's rendered "I love you" in English. This was Israel's first Eurovision win.

Jahn Teigen , Norway, was the first artist to achieve 0 points in the contest after the current voting system was introduced. (And later the same year he released his album ''This Year's Loser''.)
