Computers use an email forwarding facility to forward (re-direct) an Email sent to one Address on to another email address. Organisations often use this facility to ensure that email sent to a particular position in the organisation gets to the individual who currently holds the post. Email forwarding can also redirect email going to one address and send it to one or several other addresses without the sender knowing. It may also forward email going to several different addresses to a single email address. The forwarding may take place automatically on a Mail Server , automatically within the user's E-mail Client , or manually, with the intervention of an end-user. TYPES OF FORWARDING Most Domain Name Hosting facilities provide email facilities either by allowing the user to collect the email from a " Postbox " on a web-site through a Mail Client such as Microsoft Outlook , or to forward email to another web address such as the user's Internet Service Provider . This facility allows the web-site to have many different addresses, some going to a mailbox on the Domain and others going to Email Address es outwith the domain. SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINKS |
