Dublin Regional Authority




The Dublin Regional Authority is for County Dublin (officially known as the ''Dublin Region'') which comprises the administrative areas of the Dublin City Council , Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown , Fingal and South Dublin . The population of the region is 1.122m (Census 2002).

The main functions of the authority are:-
  • To promote co-ordination, co-operation and joint action among the public services and local authorities;

  • To prepare Regional Planning Guidelines (P&D Act 2000)

  • To review of the overall needs and development requirements of the region;

  • To review of local authority’s Development Plans;

  • To monitor spending and progress of the National Development Plan and EU Funds.


The current Cathaoirleach ( Chairperson ) is Cllr Dermot Lacey of the Labour Party , a former Lord Mayor Of Dublin .
