Doddaballapur (DBPur) is about 40kms from Bangalore towards North on Bangalore-Hindupur state highway (SH-9). This town was once known for weaving silk. Even now we can find many families in Doddaballapur that depend on power looms. There is a very big industrial area in Bashettihalli, which is around 6kms from DBPur. This industrial area houses a large number industries.
DBPur receives scanty rainfall compared to other cachement areas in Karnataka. This is one of the reasons for water scarcity in the town as well as in villages surrounding DBPur. Most of the underground water is deplete owing to lack of rains. We can still see people carrying drinking water in plastic pots on bicycles from far off places.
Governement of Karnataka recently started an apparel park in DBPur to boost economy in DBpur by creating employment.Close proximity from proposed Devanahalli international airport makes DBpur a lucrative location for real estate investments.
There are few good temples in Terina Beedhi, DBPur like Sri Venkateswara swamy temple, Chandra mouleeshwara temple, Sankara matha. Every year Brahmarathotsava is held in Sri Venkateswara swamy temple in the month of magha masa where lot of people from far away places gather to offer prayers.
